Semikah Textiles was founded on a passionate whim - one that owner Veronica Hamlet could not ignore. In 2015, an instinct told her to visit a home interior design business that eventually led her on a journey across the ocean to uncover the mysteries of a timeless tradition of Moroccan rug-making. This three week adventure with a photographer turned into a serious business - one that has stood the test of trends and time and is known as Semikah Textiles today.

Veronica Immersed herself into Moroccan culture and studied its story from beginning to end, feeling every color and fiber of each rug as its own unique work of art. Every thread represents a story, she learned:  a birth, a wedding, a loss, a milestone of sorts. Laughs, smiles and tears are intertwined with each strand of wool - 100% live wool - quality you can only get from true Semikah Textiles rugs.

After sharing meals with families and seeing their joys and struggles, she made it her mission to bring these beautiful, artistic heirlooms to the U.S.  She felt compelled and inspired to incorporate them into interior design as focal pieces - setting the stage and tone for each space she designs.  Through Semikah Textiles, Veronica is able to bring the beauty and culture of Morocco to everyday people and life in the U.S. And through, Hamlet Interiors, she brings these rugs to life, designing spaces where modern and vintage colors and textures of Moroccan life coexist in elegant harmony.

Much like these vintage, intricately-woven rugs, Veronica is a work of art herself. A truly creative and spiritual soul, Veronica draws her energy and ideas from the world - its many diverse cultures and differences - reminding her that we aren’t so different after all.  Over the years, Veronica has come to see herself in the rugs she curates and sells and in the spaces she designs. “Colorful transparency” is a motto she lives by and surrounds herself with honesty, kindness and adventure. She is in this business because of the relationships she has and for the love of Moroccan culture and people. Advancing these women and their families has become a personal mission - one she intends to devote her life to for many years to come.
